CONCRETE AGGREGATE: Estimating Tips

Concrete aggregates are the building blocks of our society.  They are the most basic material used in construction and provide the foundation for pavers, walkways, and buildings.  Also known as bulk stone, aggregates are raw materials produced from natural sources and extracted from pits and quarries, and include stone such as gravel, crushed stone, and sand.

IMPORTANT:  Stone is a natural product, derived from the earth.  It's size and color will vary which means that coverage will also vary.  This Estimating Guide will give you approximate, average coverage per ton.  We recommend buying 5% more to ensure complete coverage.

TIPS FOR AGGREGATE DEPTH ON PAVER PATIOS:


Typically, paver patios need a minimum depth of 4" of heavy aggregate - like #57 limestone - along with a layer of leveling aggregate - like #9 limestone - with a maximum depth of 1".
