NATURAL LANDSCAPE STONE

Wallstone

WALLSTONE

IMPORTANT: Natural landscape stone is a product of nature and a natural product.  It's size and color will vary and coverage will vary.  This estimating guide will provide approximate coverage.  We recommend purchasing 5% more to ensure complete coverage.

Wallstone is sold by how much it weighs.  To estimate how much wallstone you need to purchase, you must calculate the amount of pounds you will need.  (Our wallstone is typically 8" deep, which covers around 20sqft.)

CALCULATE AMOUNT OF TONS:

SQFT of the wall (L x H) (÷) 20 (20sqft is 1-ton of wallstone)

CALCULATE TONS INTO POUNDS:

# of tons (x) 2,000 = # of Pounds

EXAMPLE:

If your wall will be 30' long by 7' high, you will need 10.5 tons - or 21,000 pounds - of wallstone.

FLAGSTONE

IMPORTANT: Natural landscape stone is a product of nature and a natural product.  It's size and color will vary and coverage will vary.  This estimating guide will provide approximate coverage.  We recommend purchasing 5% more to ensure complete coverage.

The type of flagstone you are purchasing determines the method of how it is ordered.  Square cut flagstone is sold by the square foot; while irregular/random flagstone is sold by the pound and coverage depends upon the thickness of the stone (see chart).

SQUARE-CUT FLAGSTONE:

Length (x) Width = Total SQFT

IRREGULAR/RANDOM FLAGSTONE:

Total SQFT (÷) Coverage (based on flagstone thickness) =# of Tons

CALCULATE TONS INTO POUNDS:

# of Tons (x) 2,000 = # of Pounds

EXAMPLE:

From the chart, we know that one (1) ton of 2" thick flagstone covers around 80sqft.  For a 30' x 20' patio, using 2" thick flagstone, you would need 7.5 tons of flagstone, or 15,000 pounds.

IRREGULAR FLAGSTONE SQFT/TON
1/2" to 3/4" Thick 250 sqft/ton
1" Thick 150 sqft/ton
1 1/2" Thick 100 sqft/ton
2" Thick 80 sqft/ton
3" to 4" Thick 40 sqft/ton
6" to 7" Thick 23 sqft/ton

Landscape boulders are sold by how much they weigh.  To estimate the amount of boulders you need to purchase, you must calculate the amount of pounds you will need.

CALCULATE VOLUME OF THE AREA :

Length (x) Height (x) Average Depth = Volume (cuft)

CALCULATE VOLUME INTO POUNDS:

Volume (x) Weight of Product = # of Pounds

**NOTE: 150lbs is an average.  You may use 145lbs for Limestone/Sandstone or 165lbs for Granite Cobbles

EXAMPLE:

If your project area will be 16' long by 4' high by 2' deep, you will need 128 cubic feet - or 19,200 pounds - of boulders.
